Meet Dillon Jackson

From The Ground Up

Southern Grit Dirt Works is Dillon Jackson. A Middle Tennessee native who grew up in Auburntown, Dillon has spent his working life in the dirt — starting as a laborer before ever touching the controls of a machine, learning the trade from the bottom up the way it should be learned.

He has worked both the commercial and residential sides of excavation, spending years on job sites across Middle Tennessee before deciding it was time to put his name on the work. That decision came with a purpose: to bring honest, affordable excavation and land services to the same communities he grew up in, and to build something he can one day leave to his children.

Built On Practical Experience

Southern Grit Dirt Works was created to serve property owners who want straightforward answers and work that fits the land. Every project starts with a walk-through and a clear look at what the site needs before any dirt moves. No quote is given blind. No price changes halfway through.

Dillon does not claim to be the biggest company in Tennessee, and he does not want to be. He wants steady work, a good reputation, and a couple of people working with him eventually. He would rather do a handful of jobs right than a hundred jobs halfway. That is the kind of contractor you want when your land is on the line.

A Family Man First

Dillon is the sole income for his family. He and his wife have four children — three girls and a boy — and his wife stays home with the little ones because they would rather raise their own kids than hand them to someone else. Everything he does, he does for them.

That is why he started this company on the side of a full-time job, growing it slowly and deliberately. He told himself it would take five, six, or seven years to really get going, and he would be happy with that. The work comes first. The family comes always.

Focused On The Job In Front Of Us

Whether the work involves grading, drainage, clearing, or excavation for a new build, the approach stays practical and direct. Dillon keeps the process personal, explains the plan, and works to leave each site prepared for what comes next.

When you call Southern Grit Dirt Works, you get Dillon. The same person who quotes the job is the one running the equipment. No sales team. No dispatcher. Just a local man who takes pride in every site he touches and treats your land like it belongs to his family — because in a way, it does.
